Perennial Ryegrass - Nui

Nui Perennial Ryegrass, a cool-season grass variety that is known for its high wear-tolerance and rapid establishment. This variety, one of the five to come from New Zealand, is well-adapted to moderate temperatures and emulates early heading, with a growth peak rate in late winter and early spring. Nui is often used around homes, schools, parks, or for winter erosion control, pasture and as a cover crop when adequate water is available. Its rapid germination and establishment, at just 3-5 days, makes it perfect for overseeding winter-dormant bermudagrass lawns. Nui thrives in full sun, but can also tolerate partial shade and its quick establishment helps to suppress weeds. It can be used to overseed warm-season grasses and can be managed by gradually reducing the height of the grass in the spring by mowing it more closely and more often. Nui is a true perennial, able to withstand grazing pressures and heavy traffic. It requires careful management during establishment in farm settings to ensure that any accompanying legumes are not suppressed. It is suitable for most farming and climatic environments.
